Most counseling is done within the context of a dyadic relationship between the client and the therapist. The first session, and sometimes the second session as well, will be spent exploring what brings you into therapy, who you are as a person, and how your therapist can best support you as you begin your healing process. It is most often recommended that clients have one 50 minute session per week. Your session time will start on the hour and last until ten minutes before the next hour. Usually, it is most helpful for you to come prepared with something you would like to explore or process during your session time. This could be an experience that has stirred up emotion for you over the past week, a memory that has been heavy on your mind, or an ongoing struggle you would like to explore. Sometimes it is hard to know what you want to talk about during your therapy session, and your therapist can help guide you if you get stuck or have difficulty getting started. Often, through individual therapy, clients are able to gain a greater understanding and awareness of themselves, their experiences, and how those experiences have impacted them. Clients are able to grieve and process where necessary, learn new skills for managing a range of challenging situations and circumstances, experience emotional release, and create the impetus to begin acting and interacting in a new way with themselves and with others.

As human beings, we are wired for intimacy. Our most important relationship need is a sense of connection with another, an underlying sense of security that when we need our partner, he or she will be there for us, an understanding that we are not alone in the world. Often couples reach out for support from a therapist when one or both partners are unable to get their core needs for intimacy, attachment, and connection met in their partnership. Couples sessions can help partners learn to heal from disconnection and isolation, and move toward reconnecting in a way that will support meaningful communication, mutual understanding and appreciation, and increased emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical intimacy.

Sometimes entire families are impacted by life events such as tragedies, crimes, losses, transitions, or relationship difficulties. In these situations, sometimes it can be most helpful for the entire family to heal together. A common goal in family therapy is to create new patterns of interacting within the family system. A therapist can support each family member’s ability to gain greater insight into their own experience and to effectively communicate that experience with each of the other family members in such as way that would deepen mutual understanding, strengthen relationships, and empower each member of the family to provide support, nurturing, encouraging and healing to the others. In family therapy, there is no one identified individual client; rather the family as a whole, and all the relationships contained therein are the client.

Traditionally, “good” nutrition has been defined by getting the right amounts of vitamins and minerals, protein, fat and carbohydrates. While this is true, there is another part to the story… In order to understand the whole picture of our nutritional health, we must also examine our relationship with food and body. Our metabolism is profoundly affected by our thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Stress versus relaxation, pleasure versus fear… each of these directly impacts our ability to metabolize life and food.

Through a holistic approach to health and wellness, your coach will help you to look not only at the quality of foods you are eating, but also guide you to look at specific areas of your life to see how each of those might be affecting your nutritional health. Our bodies are incredible messengers, sending symptoms as red flags to get our attention. Your coach will help you learn to listen to your body to find out where life might be calling for your attention. Nourishment comes not only in the form of the food that we eat; it encompasses all that sustains the development of body, mind and spirit. When necessary, your coach will recommend, and support you in making dietary and lifestyle changes. As you work together to reach your goals, you will develop a deeper understanding of the choices that work best for you so you can implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, life balance and health long term.

Areas of focus include weight loss, body image, energy and fatigue, immunity, mood, compulsive eating, digestive concerns, help navigating food allergies and several other nutrition-linked health concerns.

Hypnosis is a state of mind in which the critical factor of the conscious mind is bypassed and selective thinking is established. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to gain effective change for the client in the area of their presenting problem.

Your hypnotherapist may use a variety of techniques to guide you into hypnosis, but the hypnotherapist is merely the guide. You allow yourself to go into hypnosis and you can bring yourself out just as quickly at any time.

As you will learn, hypnosis is actually a normal, natural state and we all drift in and out of it at different times during the day. For this reason, many people don't feel noticeably different when they are in hypnosis. Do, however, expect to feel generally calm, focused, and relaxed as you are guided into hypnosis.

As you work in hypnosis, you may find you make positive changes quicker than you expected, or that you gain improvement in other areas of your life because you are working directly with your subconscious mind. Oftentimes things that seem to be separate problems are manifestations of the same root cause to the subconscious mind.

Talk with a hypnotherapist today to see how hypnosis can help you.
